GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

 

Under general supervision operates tram to transport authorized customers between the Bald Head Island (BHI) ferry landing and Contractor Service Village, and various BHI Limited employee outlets.  Reports to the Assistant Transportation Manager. 

   

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

Essential Functions:

 

Operates tram in a safe, courteous manner ensuring tram trailer is not overloaded and that all passengers remain seated. No passengers are allowed in truck bed.

 

Drives tram between BHI ferry landing and Contractor Service Village and various BHI Limited employee outlets.

 

Operates tram on Bald Head Island according to current approved tariff in coordination with ferry arrivals and departures. 

 

Maintains communication with dispatching personnel and other employees to ensure timely arrivals, departures, and customer service standards.  Promptly reports delays and or breakdowns.

 

Checks oil, fuel, and tire pressures.  Cleans tram daily.  Performs other routine maintenance to tram and makes minor repairs.

 

Maintains tram maintenance and mileage logs.

 

 

Additional Functions:

 

Picks up trash and debris in and around Ferry Terminal.

 

May assist Oufitters by driving trams if needed to handle special groups and assists with baggage handling when available.

 

Performs other related work as required.

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

 

Graduation from high school or equivalent, one year of experience in the operation of a commercial bus or related vehicle; or an equivalent combination of training and experience to provide the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.

 

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT (S)

 

 

Appropriate North Carolina Driver's License for the weight and type of vehicle operated as required by the Department of Motor Vehicles. Possession of a valid class C North Carolina driver’s license.

Clean driving record and the ability to drive a standard transmission. Must pass pre-employment drug test and be enrolled in random drug testing program.   

 

Requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

 

Must be enrolled in random drug testing program for this safety sensitive position.
